OPPO Watch – Detailed Review with pros and cons

Oppo is a brand of smartphones that you may be aware of. The OPPO Watch was introduced in August 2020 with the OPPO Reno 4 line of smartphones.

There has been a rise in the usage of fitness trackers and smartwatches for this purpose. When compared to fitness bands, the features offered by smartwatches are much more extensive.

Apple’s smartwatches continue to dominate the market, despite the fact that several firms are now offering fitness bands. This is the brand-new timepiece that challenges Apple’s Watch. But how was the show itself?

Is it a better watch than the Apple Watch in every way? Can you tell me the pros and cons of using it? Find out in our detailed Pros & Cons Analysis of the OPPO Watch.

The diameters of the Oppo watches are 46 and 41 millimeters, respectively. The primary differences are in the screen, battery, and other features. Everything else about the two watches is similar.

So without further ado, let’s get started.

Specifications:

The watch’s obvious inspiration from the Apple Watch will be the first thing you notice about it. Oppo has updated its watch by adding a curved display and the Wear OS by Google software.

As a watch, the Oppo offers solid functionality. You may benefit greatly from the health and fitness features included. The battery life is a little disappointing, but we’ll talk more about that later in the review.

If you’re looking for an android-compatible watch with a curved display similar to the Apple Watch, you won’t be disappointed with this one. Let’s have a look at Oppo watch specifications.

Design and Display:

To really appreciate the Oppo Watch’s luxurious appearance, we had to turn it on. This is because the OLED display improves the overall look and feel of the device. The interface is visually appealing, thanks to the use of slightly oversaturated color tones and inky blacks that blend with the side bezels.

As I’ve already said, the curved display on the Oppo Watch is the most notable distinction between it and my Apple Watch. It’s possible that some people just won’t be able to tell the two apart.

Other than that, the body, fascia, and straps are all the same. Oppo appears to have realized that modeling the watch’s design after a tried-and-true method is a good idea.

On the left side is a speaker, and on the right are two control buttons. One button controls the power and various other settings. There’s also a button that acts as the home screen and launches the app drawer.

Rubber straps offer a high level of quality and are easy to detach and reconnect. All it takes to connect is a single switch to fit into the holes. The design and arrangement of the controls make it simple to operate.

Performance, Functions, and Operation:

The Oppo Watch is powered by a Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC and has 1GB of RAM, the bare minimum for Wear OS to function smoothly (in wear OS mode). In its energy-saving mode, the Watch is powered by a low-power Ambiq Micro Apollo3 CPU.

Oppo Watch stands out from the crowd of affordable and mid-range cross-platform watches currently available in India thanks to its inclusion of WearOS. Oppo has kept essential WearOS features, so it’s no surprise that it’s compatible with Android phones and has many more advanced features than traditional wristwatches.

Getting the Watch up and running takes little effort. After installing Google’s WearOS software, just follow the on-screen prompts. We got quite far into the conversation before I remembered that Oppo has its own version of the Heytap health app for the Watch.

The Oppo Watch has built-in wireless connectivity through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. So, even if you switch off Bluetooth on your phone, the watch may still be able to sync notifications over Wi-Fi.

Fitness:

The bulk of smartwatch buyers are drawn to the devices for the purpose of fitness tracking, and the Oppo watch does not disappoint in this regard. The watch’s built-in heart rate sensor monitors your rhythm constantly and sends alerts if it detects any irregularities or rapid heartbeats.

With its built-in GPS, the watch can record data from any outdoor activity, including cycling. Along with Google Fit, it provides about a hundred options for tracking exercises, such as swimming, tennis, football, and even some less conventional activities like paddle boarding and kite surfing, which are very frequent along the Essex coast, which I now call home.

Battery:

The battery life is a significant disappointment for the Oppo Watch, which is otherwise a superb device. In our testing, we found that the 300mAh battery will likely last less than 24 hours under normal conditions. Although Oppo says that the battery life is 36 hours, I don’t see how that’s possible.

You’ll need to charge the watch every night, but if that’s not a problem, it’s a great option. If your battery is low, you may use the Oppo VOOC flash charging feature to get it back up to 46% in 15 minutes or 100% in 75 minutes. Wireless charging is not supported, hence the provided cradle must be utilized.

The Power Saver feature may add 20 days of use to your battery life. While I didn’t have time to really look into it, this did help you out when you could use a few more hours.

In battery-saving mode, the watch will still show the time, count steps, and react to basic notifications, but at a reduced refresh rate.

The high-quality build, beautiful screen, top-notch software, and lightning-fast charging are all highlights. The battery life is just mediocre, and there’s room for development in Starp.

Pros:

  1.  High-quality design
  2. Eye-catching screen
  3. Top-notch software
  4. Rapid charging
  5. Starp needs work.

Cons:

  1. Short battery life
  2. Slow charging
  3. Average performance.

Conclusion:

The Oppo Watch is perfect for you if you want a high-quality wristwatch that runs on the Wear OS by Google platform. The watch’s performance is unparalleled, but if you want to get the most out of it, you should seek an Android Wear device that can better manage notifications.

It gives off an air of refined ease while yet being very practical and trustworthy. It has a beautiful interface and is adept at handling notifications.

Subpar battery life is more than made up for by the outstanding power-saving mode, which is propelled by a dedicated low-power processor, and VOOC rapid charging.

If you’re looking for an Android wristwatch, go no further than the Oppo Watch; it’s the finest there is.
